Installment 6

Luna pulled over the car in a small dirt lot a few minutes outside of town and turned to face the passengers. “Ok. We need to get some form of supplies from this town. But the way I see it, we have a few options on how we can get it.” Ace and Felix looked over investedly. “First off, we should probably do a thorough search of this car. We looked through it briefly on the way here but there’s still a lot unchecked. The main thing we’re looking for is tracking apparatus but some money would be really nice.” “Makes sense, although this guy is famously a broke ass” Ace piped in, making Felix blow a bit of air out of her nose.

“Whatever money we find needs to be in cash because it can’t track us like card can. If we can’t find any cash, we’ll need to get the supplies some other way. That probably means stealing.” Luna continued, and Felix downwards clearly conflicted. Ace looked back at Felix and comforted her “Come on, Felix. You have to face that you’re not going to live a normal life, let yourself live a little. This is gonna be good practice for you.” Felix looked at Ace for a few moments, taking in her advice, before finally replying “Yeah, you’re probably right. I’ll try.”

“Really?” Chimed in Luna “Already? I mean, I’m not complaining but…” Felix cut her off “No, Ace is right. I need to let my evil side come out a little bit if I’m going to survive. If we’re going to survive.” Ace looked a bit shocked before cheering out loud “Hey, that’s the spirit! Go do something bad! It’s settled then. Luna and I will search the car and try to get some gas, while Felix will go get us some supplies. You should probably take this with if you run into trouble” Ace picked up the gun and twirled it in her fingers before Felix responded “No. Don’t give me the gun. I don’t trust myself with it.”

“Oh, um… ok. I guess I’ll hold onto the gun for right now then.” Ace said, slipping the firearm in her waistband. “If I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna need to get out of these handcuffs” Felix responded, looking at Luna. Ace also turned to Luna, looking conflicted. After a moment, Luna responded with a sigh. “Fine, get out” Luna said, opening the door and stepping outside. Once outside she opened Felix’s door and uncuffed her hands.

Ace and Luna watched Felix walk off, turning to wave back at the two of them before setting off into town. Then, Ace and Luna looked at each other, and to the car. Luna spoke first. “I’ll look underneath for tracking devices if you wanna check the trunk. That’s the biggest place we haven’t looked yet.” Ace nodded and walked around the back to the trunk, before hitting the latch to open it.

“Holy shit” Ace said outloud, as she looked into the trunk of the car. Inside was several large stacks of temporary tattoos of different shapes and colors. A few she recognized as the ones Mr. Hendrickson was wearing. “I think Mr. Hendrickson might not have even had tattoos!” Luna sat up from her prone position on the ground and peeked into the trunk. “Ha! You’re right! Thats fucking hilarious. Could be useful too if we need to change identities quickly. What’s that over there?” Luna asked, pointing to the corner.

“Ace picked up a medium sized tactical sheath and pulled out a large machete. “Whoah, this is sick” she said, swinging it around a few times. “You should probably take this one, because I have the gun. Besides, it would be easy to hide in your overcoat” Ace reasoned. “Hey wait a minute, how come I don’t get the gun? I thought you having it was a temporary thing!” Luna asked joustingly, not really frustrated. “Well I do have a lot of firearms training which you don’t. I guess guns are just kinda my thing” She replied, satirically. “Fine, you can have it for now. But I’m taking it back eventually. We’re clear for trackers” Ace picked up the hood of the car, searching for hidden valuables. After finding nothing, she sighed and closed it again. God, this guy is boring as shit.
