Highlights from my dreams
Grandma’s Moldy Basement
I could taste the mold in the air the second I entered the room. It was enormous, cubic enclosure several football fields in length. The walls were the texture of a deep purple hotel wallpaper that you would find on vacation, papery and almost falling apart. The floors were a moldy wet blue carpet that squelched beneath your feet every time you took a step. Stale, moist air had been trapped in this room longer than you’ve been alive. I felt like I was breathing in carbon monoxide with every breath I took. I couldn’t even see the ceiling. At the opposite side of the room I could see light emanating from another doorway, so that’s where I went. Squelching across the wet carpet every step of the way.
I finally made it across the room and looked through the empty doorway to find a large dark room filled to the top with stuff. Heaps and Heaps of stuff, creating walls thick enough you couldn’t see through them. It fealt like there was something else, some monster in the basement with me. Actually, scratch that. There were many monsters in here with me. At least this ceiling was at a normal enough height. I walked through the maze of items, taking notice of the inventory. There were baseball bats, instruments, lawnmowers, pillows and blankets, thousands of household items that you pass every day without thinking about. As I reached the end of the maze I neared another empty doorway. After taking one last look at the sea of items, I went inside.
This room was a small kitchenscape and dining room. Most of the floor was hardwood although in the corner to the left of the entrance there was that black and white tiling that’s in every midwestern kitchen ever. Other than the kitchen, the room was surprisingly empty. The only other thing in the room was a small midwestern table and 3 chairs surrounding it. I turned the corner left into the next room.
Or at least I would have. If I didn't see it first. A huge jack in the box with huge white legs stared directly back at me. I froze instantly. All of a sudden, the jack in the box started to make a large wiring noise, winding itself up. I immediately broke from my freeze and sprinted as fast as I could backwards. Through the kitchen. Through the room of stuff. Through the empty moldy cube. And all the way out. It didn’t follow.
Old hag in the northern tower
It was my first day at a weird wizard school. I was with my friends at the orientation and they warned me about the old hag that lived up in the top of the northern tower. She was the groundskeeper and was known for being really mean. I tried to avoid her during the first few periods and she really seemed to live up to her reputation whenever I passed her in the halls.
During my lunch break I decided to go up to a tall tower and didnt realize the top floor was the one that she lived in. I opened the trapdoor and saw a sandwitch (potato salad and ham between 2 pieces of lunch bread) on a plate at the top with seemingly nobody else around to claim. I climbed up and took the sandwitch, starting to eat it.
All of a sudden, the old hag turned the corner and saw me eating her sandwitch! In a fit of rage, she tried to chase me down the ladder but I managed to pull the hatch down and wouldn't let her through. Eventually, she gave up and started sobbing uncontrolably in the corner. This is when I realized that she really was a miserable old hag and this sandwich that I stole from her was the last good thing she had left in her life. I felt really bad that I had taken that away from her.
She then subsequently got fired for child abuse.
